Our spring 2006 Open House set new records for attendance and activity! From the incomparable Helge Pedersen presentation on Friday evening to the awarding of door prizes on Saturday afternoon, we had so much going on you had a real challenge to do it all!
|
Before the Friday presentation by Helge Pedersen, customers lined up for food at the buffet table. |
Approximately 150 people came to see the "Best of World Touring" presentation. |
Pedersen provided awesome images and entertaining narration to the large crowd. Morton's BMW was proud to present the entire evening to its guests free of charge. |

MSF instructor, police officer, and Morton's volunteer Tom Overman (red hat) gives demo riders a pre-ride briefing. Tom has been leading our group demo rides for years, and this year partnered with fellow MSF instructors Scott Olsen and Jack Heric to provide a safe, fun ride for our guests. |
The good folks at Chik-fil-A were on hand, passing out free breakfast bites and coupons for their restaurant at Southpoint II. |
Attendees sign up for free lunch and door prize tickets at the registration table. |

Saleswoman Stephanie Acheson discusses F650GS features with a father and daughter. |
The all new R1200GS Adventure drew a crowd all day. Our entire 2006 allocation was sold out months ago. |
Some sport bike riders found the luxurious K1200LT a bit more appealing than they expected. |

"Ropes" the Magician entertained kids with balloon creations -- a knight's sword, in this case -- and other magic feats. |
Local recording artists the Dixie Power Trio provided New Orleans style zydeco music during the afternoon. |
World traveler Helge Pedersen conducted two well-attended seminars, this one on proper packing techniques and another introductory lesson on GPS units. |
|
Morton's BMW emptied out its warehouse of used parts and did a good business with those looking for real bargains. |
The flea market midway was active most of the day, and the weather was even perfect for working on your tan! |
Customers were encouraged to bring their unwanted parts, riding gear, and any other bike-related stuff and do some business themselves -- at no cost. |
|
Our open houses are always a good place to see old friends. Here, longtime BMWBMW members Linda Rookard, Bill Shaw, and Joe Grant catch up. |
And here, Jim Swisher, his dad Dave Swisher (1.3 million BMW miles and counting!), and Murray Loy pose for a group shot. Dave has been recognized by BMW as attaining the highest total mileage on BMW motorcycles in the world. |
Morton's BMW had so many items on sale, we set up a tent outside to hold the overflow. |
|
While some guests focused on the vintage iron... |
...others enjoyed checking out the variety of bikes and license plates in the parking lot. This R1200ST was ridden here from Arizona for the open house! |
It's always fun to check out the stickers on GS models -- this R1150GS includes souvenirs from Alaska and Labrador! |
|
Parked motorcycles even spilled out into neighboring shopping area parking lots. |
We even had dessert! The wonderful staff of Rita's Italian Ice passed out delicious mango ice all afternoon -- free! |
Lisa Barnhill was the lucky winner of a ladies Club jacket, here presented by Morton's BMW owner Jeff Massey. |
|
Peoples' Choice vintage bike award winner Roger Dickerson was the overwhelming victor for his 1961 R50/2. For his efforts, he took home the gorgeous new BMW R90S history book by Ian Fallon. |
Richmond BMW Riders president Rusty Gross was Saturday's 10 Years on Two Wheels book winner, here congratulated by Helge Pedersen. |
The grand prize winner took home a beautiful BMW leather Club jacket, but we forgot to write her name down! If you know this person -- or if you ARE this person -- let us know so we can correct the caption. |
