Nate Storms Summit Point! Fan favorite Nate Kern brought the BMW HP2 Sport to Summit Point, West Virginia, on May 3 & 4 to take on all comers. Racing against some of the best riders around, Nate brought home four first places (including one on his R1200S in Thunderbike), one second, and one third place finish. Morton's BMW and BMW Bikers of Metro Washington were on hand to help out and cheer him on to victory. If you weren't there, you missed a great showing for Nate and BMW. Introducing XPLOR Blue Ridge! June 13-15, 2008 REGISTRATION IS FULL! All 125 spots are now filled for XPLOR Blue Ridge, a weekend of off-road and on-road fun for all kinds of BMW riders, but check the XPLOR site periodically to see if spaces become available. For GS folks, we'll have dirt rides and training, featuring BMW racer Jimmy Lewis and his wife Heather, plus an adventure tour through the mountains; on-road riders will have a full menu of self-guided tours through the Virginia countryside. What the...? What in the world is that, you might ask. That, my friends, is the newest superbike on the planet, the upcoming BMW S 1000 RR. This new supersport will be produced in limited volume and will take the BMW Motorrad team to World Superbike competition in 2009. Few details are authorized for release yet, but suffice to say it will be incredibly fast. It will feature a four cylinder, water-cooled engine, loads of carbon fiber, massive forks -- no Duolever or Telelever -- traction control, and technology derived from BMW's Formula 1 racing effort.
